April 11, 2025 - Lehman College "The Borinqueneers" Film Screening

In honor of National Borinqueneers Day, Lehman College’s Office of Military & Veterans Affairs will be celebrating the day with a film presentation of the PBS documentary film “The Borinqueneers”, along with the attendance of other special invited guests including Jorge Mercado, director of the Historical Research Team of the National Borinqueneers Congressional Gold Medal National Committee and possibly some living Borinqueneer veterans as well. This event is being organized in partnership with Hostos College’s Office of Veterans Affairs and the James J. Peters VA Medical Center.
DATE: Friday, April 11th, 2025, from 4:00-6:00pm

The Korean Foundation of Puerto Rico will be honoring Puerto Rican veterans of the Korean War with a dedication of flowers and a tribute ceremony followed by lunch on Friday, January 24th at the Puerto Rico National Cemetery, 50 Avenida Cementerio Nacional, Bayamon, Puerto Rico at 10AM. JAN 25, 2025 - KOREAN FOUNDATION OF PR's LUNAR YEAR CELEBRATION FOR KOREAN WAR VETERANS
The Korean Foundation of Puerto Rico would like to extend an invitation to Borinqueneers and other Puerto Rican Korean War veterans who served in the Korean War and one guest to attend their Lunar New Year Celebration on Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 12:00-4:00pm at the Bristol Party Room, 1052 Ashford Avenue, San Juan, Puerto Rico. Lunch will be provided. Please call Yesul Lee at (207) 283-5062 for more information. You will need to RSVP at info@kfpr.us by January 18th. Transportation can be arranged for veterans who need it. Veterans should come with proof of their Korean War service.







































Muy buenos días, soy un orgulloso nieto de Julio Luis Figueroa Mitchell, de la 65th inf. REGT. 3RD div. El cual falleció el 19 de junio del 1951 y mi familia llevamos años tratando de hacerle honor y se le dio a la familia el corazón púrpura pero no es reconocido ni su foto ni tampoco en los monumentos esta su nombre que puedo hacer para honrar su valentía llevamos desde mi padre hasta yo tratando de hacer lo propio pero no sabemos que más hacer tenemos todos los documentos de su servicio, pero son cosas que no entendemos. Necesito que alguien nos ayude a ver como lo podemos honrar a este gran soldado llamado mi abuelo Julio Luis Figueroa Mitchell el cual lamentablemente nunca conoci.
