Hi I wanted to say to you that you should really make this into a movie… I know it will be successful…. I don’t know if you are on your way… but I would like to be apart in making the film in any way I can help…. My name is Miguel Prosper and if you ever heard of the New York International Latino Film Festival they might like to see this documentary in there. HBO sponsors them. I had been apart of the festival for about 4 years from 2003-2006.

Contact me if you would like some help on the new project. This film needs to be shown. I know there is a market for it…. I work in the art house theatres the audience would like to see it.

AS A PUERTO RICAN MILITARY MAN,I WAS DISGUSTED WHEN I SAW THE WAY OUR GOVERNMENT TREATED OUR FAMILY MEMBERS IN THE KOREAN WAR,I WAS SO PROUD WHEN THEY REFUSE TO GO UP SHERRY HILL,THEY KNEW IT WAS A LOSING BATTLE WITH NO SUPPORT,I NEVER HEARD OF SO MUCH B/S EXCUSES ABOUT WHY THEY NEEDED TO GET THAT HILL.I ALWAYS BEEN PROUD OF BEING A PUERTO RICAN THIS MOVIE MADE ME MORE..

First of all, WOW! I was mesmerized when I saw “The Borinqueneers” it was about time that someone showed such fighters,brave,and the most caring human beings on earth in relation to wars fighting for the United States. I want to also say that the 65th infantry must and should be honored in many more ways with the survivals. They deserve to have many monuments here in the states and in Puerto Rico and most of all a day off in rememberance of that war that lost not only soldiers,brothers by heart and soul and the even though some did not have experience as a soldier but they went out not only to fight but to stick together for their fellow “Borinquenos” because this is the way we are even if we do not know eash other but because we are very caring people for each other. Please to Raquel Ortiz and everyone else involve in this documentary…please produce lots and lots more documentaries of Puerto Rico because this is the only way of feeling connected to our “Borinquen Bella”.

My sister and I watched this documentary last night and we were so moved by it. We cried, smiled and we were so surprised to find out about so many Boricuas in the war. I don’t recall learning about this in any of my history classes when growing up. Both my sister and me have always been very proud Puerto Rican women and this documentary made us feel even stronger about our culture and our beautiful people. Keep up the good work and thank you so very much for shedding light on this very crucial time in history. When in Puerto Rico, I will definitely make a trip to El Monumento de la Recordacion. I would feel honored to do so. Muchas gracias.

It has only been in recent years that I have been awakened to exploring and experiencing a deeper connection with my cultural heritage. Everything Puerto Rican is fascinating! Viewing this documentary was an invaluable educational experience which reinforces my pride for the island and its people. Thank you for sharing this untold story. As part of the continuing generation of Puerto Ricans, I feel privileged to have such an honorable history.

My father’s pride as a member of Company C of the 65th is a memory that I will never forget. Every time the 65th was mentioned his chest would fill up and a serious reverent look would come upon him. His example led me to serve in the US Air Force 1987-1995. I send a very respectful salute to all my fellow “puertorriquenos” who have served and continue to serve in our armed forces. No matter what, show everyone who you are and where you come from with pride. May God bless you and your families.

This film is so inspirational and I give it five stars! It powerfully captures the glorious history of the 65th Infantry regiment in an exemplary and well researched manner. The interviews of the veterans of the 65th are captivating and emotionally moving. I laughed, I cried, I was angry at the mistreatment and discrimination they experienced, and most of all I felt an immense send of pride of the dedication, service and sacrifices made the veterans of the 65th Infantry Regiment. I was glued to the screen the whole time. This film is an excellent learning tool for teachers and professors who want to teach about the U.S. history and Puerto Rican history. The DVD has over one hour of deleted interviews of the veterans and historians that I thoroughly enjoyed also. I went to the premiere in Newark and Connecticut and it received standing ovations at both premieres. This film is awesome, a historical gem, and a MUST HAVE for your personal library.
